THBT immigration federalism in the US does more harm than good
Historically in the US, the federal government has controlled immigration policy. However, since the 1990s, states and local jurisdictions have begun to exercise increased latitude on the enforcement and implementation of immigration laws in their jurisdiction. This is called immigration federalism.
