The Riyadh Comedy Festival is an international comedy festival founded in 2025 as part of Saudi Arabia's "Vision 2030" strategy, a governmental initiative to position the country as a global hub for culture and the arts. Performing comedians are contractually obligated not to include material that would violate the nation's relatively harsh censorship laws (among other provisions, comedians cannot criticize the government or Islam, if even satirically). However, material is not screened by any member of the Saudi government prior to performance.
