Achilles was the greatest hero in the Trojan War. When the war had been raging for ten years with no end in sight, he had a dream. His mother, the goddess Thetis, appeared to him and told him that he had to make a choice. He could go back home to Greece and live a long happy life and then fall into obscurity. Or he could stay at Troy, keep fighting, die young, and earn undying fame.
