You are Bilbo Baggins, a very respectable, well-off hobbit from a family that is known for its adventurous leanings. One day, the wizard Gandalf arrives at your doorstep with a group of 13 dwarves, informing you that they are traveling across Middle-earth to reclaim their ancestral homeland, Erebor (several months of travel away). The dwarves treasure and home have been destroyed by an evil dragon, Smaug, and the company hopes to recover their gold and slay the dragon. Gandalf and the dwarves ask you to join them on the adventure of a lifetime as a burglar, and promise to pay you a very large sum of treasure for your services.
