The Star Wars “Extended Universe (EU) is a series of loosely connected officially licensed Star War works released in various artistic mediums other than live-action films, which provide information that isn’t in the movies that make up the core of the franchise. The EU acts as a supplement to the main story/expands the story beyond its primary medium, while not having particularly dramatic or pivotal plot turns which would drastically affect the world of the primary story. The media presented under the EU is written/created by separate authors and is not necessarily connected to each other. The majority of the works came out between 1991 and 2013, with the first work licensed in 1991. In 2012, shortly after Disney bought Lucasfilm, they retconned, or removed the extended universe from the official canon.
