Background slide

The first set of pokemon games -- pokemon red and blue was released in 1996 with 151 pokemon. Every ~4 years there's a new set of main series games that introduces a new region and about ~110 new pokemon. In most Pokémon games, players can catch Pokémon from past generations alongside new ones. However, in Pokémon Black and White (the 5th set of main series games), Game Freak made a unique decision: throughout the main story, players could only encounter brand-new Pokémon, with older Pokémon becoming available only after beating the game.
