Over the past decade, fans of reality television shows have gained increasing influence over the shows' production. Some examples of this include fans pressuring cast members to address their relationships with one another, encouraging networks to fire controversial figures, and even becoming prominent parts of the plot themselves (eg, reality stars, on air, discussing their interactions with fans on social media).
