This guide has been written and updated over 2020, 2021 and 2022 for APDA and BP. Most of this information are things I have learned from debating for 4 years. I have structured it for people to learn APDA first and then BP, because that is how I learned it, but I hope the guide is helpful regardless of what format you do. It may not be entirely correct and is written with the hopes that it can serve as a resource for those without any prior debate experience (and includes many things I never learned or realized until much later in my debate career).
